Medical Cannabis Evaluations

Medical Cannabis Evaluations
Specialized Services

A Straightforward Path
to Certification

If you’re considering Minnesota’s medical cannabis program for a qualifying mental health condition, our providers can complete the evaluation and certification process with you. We’ll talk through your history and current symptoms to determine whether certification is appropriate, and answer questions honestly along the way, including whether it’s likely to help your specific situation.

We’re not here to rubber-stamp a request or talk you out of one. We’ll give you a straight answer based on your history, even if that means telling you it’s not the right fit.

What the Process Involves

What a Certification Visit Looks Like

Certification starts with a conversation, not a rubber stamp. Your provider reviews your qualifying condition, current treatment, and goals before making a recommendation. Expect to talk through what’s worked before, what hasn’t, and what you’re hoping cannabis might help with.

If you are on probation or parole we work directly with your probation or parole officer to make sure that the Minnesota Medical Cannabis program will not interfere or affect your legal responsibilities.

As a reminder, our clients need to actively participate in their own mental health care. We won’t certify or continue treatment for anyone seeking to misuse medication or cannabis certification. This is a medical process, not a formality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’m not sure whether I qualify?

That’s exactly what the evaluation is for. Reach out and we’ll help you figure out if it’s the right next step.

Is this covered by insurance?

Cannabis certification evaluations are not covered by insurance and are handled as a cash-pay service.

How long is the certification valid?

Certification periods are set by the state program; your provider can confirm current renewal timelines.

Will this evaluation replace my other mental health treatment?

No. Certification is typically one part of a broader treatment plan, not a stand-alone service.

Do I need to already be a Modern MOjO client?

No. You do not need to be a current client to qualify. As long as you have a covered diagnosis from a licensed provider documented in your medical records, we can review your records to confirm you meet the requirements and proceed with certification.

What conditions qualify for medical cannabis certification in Minnesota?

Several mental health diagnoses may qualify. Your provider can confirm whether your specific diagnosis meets the state’s requirements.

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Anxiety Disorder
