Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
I am an open-minded, compassionate, and down-to-earth person who enjoys connecting with and spending time with people. I have been married for 30 years, and my husband is a medical registered nurse. I have a son and daughter in their 20’s. My hobbies include singing, spending time with my family, and friends, traveling, golfing, working out, or just Netflix bingeing my favorite shows while curling up with my dog and cat. As a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I founded my own private practice- Serene Willow Psychiatry in May of 2025. I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, Gene sight DNA psychotropic medication testing, medication management, and recommendations for skills, treatment options/guidelines and referrals via telehealth for clients across the State of Minnesota. I have over 30 years of experience as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse and 3 years of experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I provide quality, evidence based, compassionate and individualized mental health care. I prefer to take a holistic, integrative approach to healing, where I enjoy working as a team with my client with the goal of helping them to enjoy a higher quality of life. I offer longer appointment times so I can spend more time listening to my clients. I specialize in working with children ages 4 & up, adolescents and young adults with PTSD/Trauma, ADHD, Autism, Bipolar, ODD/behavioral issues, OCD, sleep disorders depression, anxiety, and psychosis. I also enjoy working with adults and geriatric clients as well and am qualified to treat many other mental health disorders.

Are you struggling or not enjoying things you used to, or having a hard time sleeping? Stressors can build up and become overwhelming and sometimes you just need help to get back on track. Welcome to a practice built on safety, respect, and deep inclusivity. As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I am privileged to partner with individuals from all cultural backgrounds, races and sexual orientations. Your lived experience is vital to your healing. Together, we will create a psychiatric care plan that honors exactly who you are. In practice, I order lab work and provide thorough education on mental health diagnoses and medication management, so you always understand your own care. I offer in-person and telehealth appointments to clients across Minnesota, and every visit can be fully telehealth if that works better for you. I have always enjoyed science and especially neuroscience. I’m fascinated by how the brain works. Also, mental health and being a Registered Nurse runs in my family. My mother, two of my aunts and my grandmother were registered nurses. My uncle was a psychiatrist. I had a passion for my psychiatric clinical experiences in nursing school, so when I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1995, I knew immediately that psychiatric nursing was my path. While working my first few years out of college I began a Master’s program to become a Family Nurse Practitioner but life happened. I spent the next several years raising my children, always knowing I’d return to finish what I started. Once my kids had grown up I went back to graduate school and completed my Master’s Degree as a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and achieved my lifelong dream. After years of practicing in a wide variety of settings, I decided to open my own private practice. I wanted more one-on-one time with clients and the independence to practice mental health care the way I believe it should work: unhurried, personal, and centered on real relationships.
